Overview for George Washington this upcoming season

The George Washington Colonials will be a team donning a new look in 2018-19. Head coach Maurice Joseph will have to change his approach this season without forward Yuta Watanabe on the wing. Watanabe produced 16.3 points on roughly 13.4 shot attempts per game but given their strength at guard this upcoming season, that shouldn’t be difficult to replace.

The Colonials should look to Armel Potter or Terry Nolan Jr. as the primary scorer this upcoming season, although it will take more than one option on offense to improve their overall outlook. They will have some frontcourt help incoming in the form of Marcus Littles and Mezie Offurum and transfers Potter and D.J. Williams will also provide some additional experience to the overall scheme.

Potter and Williams both sat out the 2017-18 season and have a year of Joseph’s system under their belt already. Their additions should pay dividends for George Washington if all goes well.

If the Colonials can find a solid rotation for the 2018-19 season, finishing in the middle of the pack in the Atlantic 10 doesn’t seem too far off. They may be another season away from finding themselves on top in the conference, though. They’re a guard-heavy bunch but lack of frontcourt experience could hurt them going forward.
