1. Charles Bassey – Center – Western Kentucky

Nigerian native Charles Bassey makes up the other half of head coach Rick Stanbury’s strong class of incoming recruits. Bassey chose the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers over Kansas, Boston College and Baylor. He joins the Hilltoppers looking to make their first NCAA Tournament appearance since 2013.

Bassey was originally a member of the 2019 recruiting class but reclassified into the 2018 class and shot up the ranks. He finished as the sixth overall prospect in the 2018 recruiting class before it was all said and done. The 6-foot-10, 240-pound big man will be looked to dominate the paint in Conference USA play. He averaged 19.3 points, 11.4 rebounds and 3.0 blocks per game at Aspire Basketball Academy (KY) in 2017-18.

After going 14-4 in 2017-18 in conference play, repeating as regular season champions shouldn’t be too difficult for the Hilltoppers. They’ll just need to seal the deal with a bid to the 2019 NCAA Tournament, something that is highly likely with Bassey and fellow teammate Dalano Banton in the backcourt.
