NCAA Basketball Recruiting: 2019 prospect Ismael Massoud looking hard at five schools
Other three finalists
Georgia Tech: The Yellow Jackets have yet to receive a commitment from the class of 2019. The Jackets are expected to have three scholarships available for next year and have 26 open offers.
Wake Forest: The Demon Deacons are 54-72 heading into their fifth season under coach Danny Manning. Although the Deacons did go 19-14 overall and 9-9 in ACC play in 2017, reaching the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2010. Manning done has done a good job on the recruiting trail.
“They have great player development,” said Massoud. “They have a good 2018 class. They are on the rise in the ACC. I felt like it would be a good fit to learn from Danny Manning and coach [Randolph] Childress and all of that.”
Consensus top-50 Jaylen Hoard leads a Wake’s 2018 recruiting class which features all five recruits being rated at least three stars.
The Deacons do not a commit from the 2019 class. They have 20 open offers and are expected to have four open roster spots next year.
Rutgers: The Scarlet Knights have been recruiting the New York City native the hardest. Rutgers has not reached the postseason since 2005-06, however, they have posted 15 wins overall the past two seasons — marking the first time they have won at least 15 games in back-to-back campaigns since 2009-10 and 2010-11. Still, the Knights are just 6-30 in Big Ten play over these last two years.
Rutgers has one open spot left in 2019. 6-foot-4 shooting guard Paul Mulcahy committed to the program back in 2016.
Best odds at landing Massoud: 1. Wake 2. Rutgers 3. Auburn 4. Georgia Tech 5. Harvard
