6. Delaware Fightin’ Blue Hens

2017-18 season record: 14-19 (6-12 CAA)

Delaware may be coping with one of the biggest individual losses in the entire conference.

Ryan Daly averaged a whopping 17.5 points per game during his sophomore season in 2017-18. He also pulled down 6.2 rebounds per game.

But he sensed an opportunity opening up in the Atlantic 10 and decided to transfer closer to home, heading to Saint Joseph’s.

The next man up for Delaware shares a first name with the former star.

Ryan Allen came on strong as a freshman, averaging 15.3 points per game. He showed no fear from distance, hoisting up an unbelievable 7.4 triples per game. He knocked down just shy of three per game, distancing himself as one of the conference’s most lethal shooters.

Allen isn’t the only rising sophomore that should draw attention to the country’s first state. Kevin Anderson is another guard who showed a strong scoring touch, averaging 13.7 points per game during his freshman season.

Progress has been slow for head coach Martin Ingelsby. He won 13 games in his first season before winning 14 last year. Frankly, winning 15 games might be a lofty goal for this team.

Should Allen and Anderson continue their developmental paths (and stay at Delaware), the Fightin’ Blue Hens are a year away from serious CAA contention.
