2. Savannah State Tigers

The Savannah State Tigers took home a share of the regular season MEAC title last season. They led the conference in points per game (86.1) as a team in 2017-18, although they’ll lose six players from last year’s rotation.

The Tigers finished 12-4 in the MEAC and 15-17 overall last season under head coach Horace Broadnax. He’ll have Dexter Mcclanahan and Zach Sellers both back in 2018-19, as both should emerge as stars for them.

Mcclanahan led the team in scoring last season with 15.6 points per game while also putting up 4.2 rebounds, 1.9 assists and 1.2 steals per contest. Sellers had a stellar sophomore season, averaging 10.3 points, 3.8 assists, 3.2 rebounds and 1.3 steals per game.

Savannah State will have some holes to fill in 2018-19 but they’ve got some potential left on the roster. Big man Ralueke Orizu put up 3.9 points and 3.1 rebounds in 11.9 minutes of action as a freshman last year. 6-foot-7 forward Jahlin Smith returns after playing in just nine games during the 2017-18 season as well. They’ll have some seniors to replace, but should be in good shape to win the MEAC once again in 2018-19.
