6. Morgan State Bears

It looks like it will be a rebuilding year for head coach Todd Bozeman and the Morgan State Bears in 2018-19. The Bears went 7-8 in MEAC play, 13-19 overall last season behind the production of Tiwian Kendley and Phillip Carr. With both players graduated, they’ll be lookinig for another star or two to emerge this upcoming season.

Morgan State does return senior Martez Cameron, a Montverde Academy (FL) product, that averaged 8.6 points, 4.4 assists, 2.9 rebounds and 1.5 steals per game in 31 appearances during the 2017-18 season. Behind him, there are juniors Stanley Davis and David Syfax, but they didn’t have quite the impact Kendley and Carr had. Davis averaged 7.4 points per game in 2017-18 while Syfax put up 6.6 points per contest.

Kendley and Carr combined for 39.8 points per game last season while Carr led the team in rebounds per game (9.3). Morgan State doesn’t return any double-figure scorers from a season ago. Syfax is the top returning rebounder after putting up 4.4 rebounds per contest last year. Given those odds, it may be tough for Morgan State to emerge as conference champions, although much like last season, anything can happen.
