Creighton Bluejays

Biggest Need: Backcourt depth

After bringing in a strong 2018 recruiting class (No. 43 overall), head coach Greg McDermott is hoping to keep up that success this year for the Creighton Bluejays. The team clearly lost a ton of talent after this past year due to the departures of star guards Khyri Thomas and Marcus Foster and could be in for a down year coming up. Still, Creighton has been an extremely consistent program for the last several years so it would be a safe bet to say that Coach McDermott will snag some strong commits from the 2019 class.

After this upcoming season, the Bluejays will have to bid farewell to two seniors, both of whom are guards: Connor Cashaw and Kaleb Joseph. Due to this, it is expected that Creighton will target future backcourt stars in this class. And, if early results are any indication, this assumption seems to be reasonable. As of right now (Sept. 30), the Bluejays have snagged one commitment from the 2019 class in Shereef Mitchell (No. 197).

Mitchell is a 6-foot-0 guard out of Omaha and he should help the program both on the court and in terms of snagging other local recruits down the road. Right now, though, Creighton seems to be looking outside of the state for future prospects. According to 247Sports, guard Sedrick Hammonds (No. 302) and forward Tristan Enaruna (No. 132) are strongly considering the Bluejays.
