G Daryll Morsell (SO)

I like Morsell to start at shooting guard for the Maryland Terrapins because he has a year of experience under his belt. Yes, the Terps do have some talented freshmen on the roster now in Aaron Wiggins and Serrell Smith Jr. but I don’t believe Mark Turgeon is going to allow either of them to start at shooting guard unless Morsell moves to the small forward position.

That’s the only instance I see Morsell not starting in the backcourt.

Plays like those may not be flashy and may look small in nature but they go a long way in terms of changing the momentum of games.  He started 21 of 32 games played last season and earned a Big Ten Freshman of the Week honor. He led the team in offensive rebounds with close to two per game, finished in double figures in 14 games, led Maryland in steals in eight games, rebounding in seven games and scoring in two games.

Morsell will solidify his spot as a starter through defense, rebounding and fast break opportunities.
