G Aaron Wiggins (FR)

I like Aaron Wiggins to start at small forward.  Aaron Wiggins came to Maryland via Wesleyan Christian High School in High Point, North Carolina. As a prospect, he was a four-star recruit in the class of 2018, the No.42 best player in the country, the No. 7 best shooting guard and the No. 5 best player in North Carolina all according to the 247Sports Composite.

The six-foot-six, 195-pound freshman would be a solid player at this position because he can shoot from behind the three-point line, drive to the basket and shoot the mid-range shot as well. He can also make defensive plays when he has to.

I do think, however, that this position can have more than one solidified starter which is why I also like freshman Serrell Smith Jr. He was named 2018 Florida Dairy Farmers’ Class 8A Player of the Year, a Florida Mr. Basketball Finalist, averaged 29.3 points, 5.0 rebounds and 3.7 assists per game as a senior and led his team to the state semifinals for the third time in the past four seasons as a senior.

Serrell Smith Jr. is a player who handles the ball well, he can drive to the basket and dunk or lay it up. He shoots the ball well and if need be could switch between the wing and both guard positions.

Maryland Basketball Head Coach Mark Turgeon could shake things up during the season with lineup changes so these two would fit well playing at small forward if they needed to.
