Kansas Basketball: Breaking down the frontcourt depth for 2018-19
By Chris Kern
Dedric Lawson
Dedric Lawson had a monster first two seasons in college at Memphis. He averaged 19.2 points, 9.9 rebounds, and 3.3 assists in his sophomore season.
Lawson also makes a big impact on the defensive end. He averaged 2.1 blocks and 1.3 steals per game in the 2016-17 season.
He sat out last season due to transferring which gave him the opportunity to get stronger and in better shape by working with the great conditioning coach Andrea Hudy.
His three-point shooting percentage did drop from 35% to 27% from his freshman to sophomore year. Due to this Kansas team losing so many shooters from a year ago they’ll need him to be able to step out and knock down open threes.
This guy can do it all. His impact on both ends of the floor is unmatched. Very few guys can do what he can on both ends. Look for Lawson to dominate the Big 12 and be one of the best players in the country.
