Butler Basketball: Breaking down the 2018-19 roster
Kamar Baldwin
Junior | Guard | 6-foot-1 | 195 lbs
2017-18 stats (34.0 mpg): 15.7 ppg, 4.9 rpg, 3.2 apg
One of the best players in the entire nation, Kamar Baldwin projects as the leader on the court for Butler this season. An elite scorer and defender, Baldwin should compete for the Big East Player of the Year award due to his efforts on both ends of the floor. Quite simply, if Butler is going to have a successful season, Baldwin will be at the center of everything. Over the course of last season, he averaged 15.7 points per game but was at his best during conference play.
For reference, here is how Baldwin performed over different stretches of 2018-19:
- Non-conference (13 GP): 12.9 ppg (.410/.288/.714), 4.5 rpg, and 2.8 apg
- Big East conference (18 GP): 16.6 ppg (.453/.361/.788), 5.2 rpg, and 3.4 apg
- BET/NCAAT (4 GP): 20.5 ppg (.485/.353/.800), 5.0 rpg, and 3.3 apg
If these numbers are any indication of what is to come for Baldwin, then he could be in for a huge year. Heading into this season, Baldwin should flirt with 20 points per game offensively while locking down some of the best players in the nation. Baldwin is clearly one of the most well-rounded players in the country heading into this season and he *could* be a darkhorse to take home many postseason awards at the end of the year.
Projected stats (35 mpg): 18.7 ppg (.452/.364/.763), 5.2 rpg, and 3.4 apg.
