Projected starters

Christen Cunningham
The former Samford guard holds program records for most assists in a season and most assists in a career. He’s now testing his hand in major college basketball, where his combination of experience and playmaking ability should make him a valuable asset to this Cardinals team.

Darius Perry
Perry could also potentially start at point guard but I think Mack will start both players alongside each other and then stagger their minutes throughout a game. He’s not really a shooter and needs to cut down on turnovers but he is extremely quick and is a solid defender.

V.J. King
Now is the time for the former five-star recruit to have his breakout season. After coming off the bench as a freshman under Rick Pitino and then dealing with everything that went on last season, King’s footing with the program is set. At 6-7 with a 7-foot wingspan, a reliable jump shot (when he takes good shots), and good athleticism, King has all the tools to be a prolific offensive threat. Now he needs to prove he can show more than just flashes and produce consistently.

Malik Williams
Williams is a stretch big who will fit in well as the four-man in this lineup. The 6-11 big man showed his range last year, shooting 32.3 percent from deep, and rebounded at an outstanding rate. If he can be this team’s rim protector, it will be very hard for Mack to take him off the floor.

Steven Enoch
Enoch is the perfect power big man for Mack’s system. The 6-11 UConn transfer is ready to play after sitting out last year. He’ll provide the interior presence on the glass and on both ends of the floor.
