Season Projections

In summary, Indiana basketball projects as one of the best teams in the Big Ten this season. The return of Juwan Morgan as a senior leader is obviously huge but the other returning talents and incoming stud recruits also raise the ceiling for the team. Additionally, head coach Archie Miller is one of the best in the business and his leadership in Year 2 at the helm of the program should not be overlooked.

The Big Ten should be one of the best leagues in all of college basketball this season and Indiana could be right in the thick of the race for the conference title. Michigan State and Michigan seem to be the preseason favorites to win the league but one could make an argument for Indiana as a strong contender to win the league. Of course, the incoming freshmen class would need to be superb on the court in order for this to happen but it is not out of the question.

In my opinion, the Hoosiers will be a top-5 team in the Big Ten and a clear NCAA Tournament team. This, though, is being somewhat conservative regarding the ceiling of this team. As already mentioned, IU could compete for the Big Ten title if all goes according to plan this season regarding freshmen contributions and the development of returning players.

Indiana basketball is not only extremely talented this year but is led by an elite-level head coach. These two factors often yield superb results and that could be the case for the Hoosiers.

Projections: 4th in the Big Ten – No. 7 seed in the NCAA Tournament.
