Projected starters

Remy Martin
Martin was often overshadowed by Holder and Evans but quietly had a fantastic freshman season, averaging 9.8 points and 2.9 assists per game while serving as a great perimeter defender. His role will increase greatly and he will have the ball in his hands a lot more. Expect Martin to have a breakout season.

Rob Edwards
The Cleveland State transfer sat out last year but the coaching staff is very high on what Edwards brings to the table. He’s a gifted scorer (averaged 16.5 ppg at Cleveland State) who scored at least 20 points on 10 occasions during the 2016-17 season and made an average of two three-pointers per game. He’ll fit perfectly into Hurley’s up-tempo, run-and-gun system.

Taeshon Cherry
The No. 38 overall recruit in the country is a smooth, versatile forward at 6-8 and 210 pounds. Cherry is a great scorer who can fill it up from all three levels (around the basket, mid-range, and from three) and, while that’s why he’s known for, also has a high basketball IQ and is great at blocking shots around the rim. He’ll be a great mismatch in favor of the Sun Devils.

Mickey Mitchell
Mitchell was a key frontcourt player for Hurley last season thanks to his rebounding and versatility. His playmaking ability from the high post is something ASU will utilize again in 2018-19. However, don’t expect the Sun Devils to ask him to score a bunch – his role is more as a rebounder and playmaker.

Romello White
White is Arizona State’s leading returning scorer (10.5 ppg) and rebounder (7.1 rpg) and appears ready for a better sophomore campaign. He started all but two games a year ago and now, as one of ASU’s clear-cut stars, will be more of a focal point of the offense.
