Key reserves

Carte’Are Gordon
Gordon has a chance to be a real star may very well find his way into the starting lineup sooner rather than later. The freshman is a gifted athlete, bona fide scoring threat, and has break-the-backboard strength. No, seriously.

Dion Wiley
Once a heralded high school recruit, injuries limited Wiley to being a role player during much of his collegiate career at Maryland. He’ll add some versatility and experience to this bench unit but, most importantly, will serve as a needed three-point threat.

Fred Thatch
Thatch, the second highest-rated freshman in this class, will contribute as a combo guard off the bench. More of a scorer at this point in his career, Ford is working to turn him into a point guard. He’ll earn more minutes if he proves to be effective in that role.

Demarius Jacobs
A 6-2 guard from Chicago, Jacobs is an elite athlete who knows how to attack the basket. His speed, aggressiveness, and playmaking ability could make him the hidden gem of this freshmen class.

Ingvi Gudmundsson
Gudmundsson will earn minutes as a shooter off the bench, but that’s about all his role will be limited to. The Iceland-native averaged 10.9 points, 3.9 rebounds, and 3.5 assists a year ago while playing in Iceland’s top league.
