Big 12 Basketball: 2018-19 preseason all-conference and awards predictions
By Chris Kern
Coach Of The Year
Bruce Weber
The Kansas State Wildcats are going to be very good this season. After making the Elite Eight last season expectations are very high.
They did catch a break during that tournament run by avoiding the one seed in the second round. They started it off with a win over 8th seeded Creighton following that up with a win over the 16th seeded UMBC Retrievers.
Their win over the 5th seeded Kentucky Wildcats was one of the most impressive wins of the whole tournament. They did it with their best player Dean Wade playing just a few minutes due to an injury.
This team is thought of as one of the most talented Kansas State teams ever. It’s expected to be Weber’s best team as well.
If they can finish second in the conference he will likely win this award. Bill Self could get some votes still but if the Wildcats win 12 or 13 conference games and are close to the Jayhawks then Bruce Weber will be the Big 12 Coach of the year.
