7. Alcorn State Braves

The Braves have been near the top of the SWAC two of the last three years. The one year they were not was a season ago. Alcorn State looks to be toward the bottom of the conference again this year. As a team they lost their top scorers, and do not have a lot of starting appearances with their remaining talent on the roster.

The one thing that should be in Braves favor is they have one of the best coaches in the SWAC with Montez Robinson. Robinson enters his third season as the head coach of Alcorn State and he has done a fantastic job of keeping Alcorn State out of the basement of the league. Robinson is going to have to do a great job of coaching to keep this team in the race, but with his prowess as a coach, he will make Alcorn State better than they may be.

Last seasons best player AJ Mosby was drafted in the second round of the G-League draft, so he is off to play pro ball. Big man Reginal Johnson is back for another year with the Braves, and he is hoping this year will be a healthy one. If Johnson is healthy he will be a load to handle inside. At 250 pounds, with a jump shot and great athleticism, coach Robinson should be able to exploit most matchups in the conference with his best player. If Johnson can exploit his matchups the Braves may have a better season that anticipated.
