Key Reserves

Maxwell Evans

Maxwell Evans did start 15 games last season but with Darius Garland coming in he will have a bench role this season. He averaged 3.9 points and 1.9 rebounds per game.

With another year of experience under his belt, Evans is going to have a big year. Look for him to try to improve his offensive numbers this season. Last year he shot just 36% from the field.

Aaron Nesmith

Aaron Nesmith is a talented wing who will help out a lot in the second unit. He also could play some big minutes with the starters if Coach Drew so chooses to do so.

247sports had him ranked as a four-star recruit, as well as being the 64th best player in the 2018 class. Look for Nesmith to try to provide the spark for the second unit.

Matt Ryan

Matt Ryan is eligible to play this season after sitting out last year after transferring over from Notre Dame. He didn’t play much there, only averaging 4.4 points and 1.3 rebounds per contest in the 72 games he played.

His role went down during his sophomore year compared to his freshmen year which played a big part in his decision to transfer. Vanderbilt will give him that opportunity to come off the bench and shoot the three ball at a high rate.

Yanni Wetzell

Yanni Wetzell is a very skilled big man from New Zealand who has two years of eligibility remaining after sitting out last season after transferring in from Division II St. Mary’s University.

They have been looking for a talented big man since they lost Luke Kornet and Wetzell has the ability to fill that void. It’ll be interesting to see what kind of role he plays, but he will have a positive impact on this team.
