Key reserves

The biggest key reserves will be guard Jay Jay Chandler and forward Savion Flagg. Without a true point guard, Chandler has a chance to emerge in that role after appearing in 33 contests in 2017-18. Flagg will be a versatile threat at 6-foot-7. He put up 4.1 points and 3.4 rebounds in 30 appearances last season as a freshman.

Outside of Flagg and Chandler, the Aggies will need somebody else off the bench to step up this season, much like T.J. Starks did last year or depth could be an issue for them. They lost five key players including forward D.J. Hogg, who averaged 11.1 points and 5.3 rebounds per contest last season.

Given what they have in Nebo and Mekowulu, the frontcourt should be fine, especially defensively. Forward John Walker III took a redshirt year in 2017-18, he could be ready for some time after sitting out and getting a year under his belt alongside Nebo. It’s the reserves in the backcourt that will need to show up for Texas A&M to be successful or they could fall off this year.
