1. Florida State is scary deep and scary good

The Seminoles surprised many last season when they made a run to the Elite Eight. They were just a questionable decision or two away from the Final Four.

This season, they might be better.

The offense ran through senior guard PJ Savoy. He averaged just 6.7 points per game off the bench last season, but it looks like he’ll be blowing past that this season. He had a permanent green light from 3-point range, knocking down 5-of-7 from downtown. Savoy didn’t even attempt a 2-point shot en route to a 20-point performance.

He was far from the only contributor on the offensive end. Trent Forrest scored 13 and dished out five assists, leading the team in the latter category. M.J. Walker added ten and every starter scored at least nine points.

Before the last substitutions of the game, every Seminole scored.

Florida State shot 11-for-23 from 3-point range, knocking down nearly half of their attempts from long-range.

Perhaps the most disappointing performance came from David Nichols, who scored just three points off the bench. But the graduate transfer is still acclimating to his new team.

Oh, and Phil Cofer didn’t play, as he’s nursing a foot injury.

Duke and North Carolina are expected to be the class of the ACC, but this Seminoles team may be the best of Leonard Hamilton’s tenure.
