Michigan Basketball: 3 keys for the Wolverines against Holy Cross
By Adam Childs
Make Free Throws
One of the keys to the game against Norfolk State was to get to the foul line. The thought was if they could get there, it meant the Wolverines were attacking the rim and forcing the action. It was also to try to get them the confidence of making them for later games. Well, they did a great job of getting to the line as they had 29 attempts against the Spartans. The problem was they only hit 13 of them.
Charles Matthews continued to struggle from the line and Zavier Simpson went 1-2. Michigan has to have both of these players hitting free throws if they want to be able to put games away late. When they are hitting their free throws it makes it tough on the other team as the Wolverines are normally good about getting to the line.
This is another game where Michigan will probably win even if they do not shoot well from the free throw line, but it would still do the Wolverines good to hit these shots. Their next game is against Villanova and it could come back to haunt them if they continue to struggle.
