Michigan Basketball: 3 takeaways from the win against Villanova

They are going to get even better
A trademark of Beilein coached teams, especially at Michigan, was how much better they were at the end of the year then they were when the season started. That was the common thing to be heard after the Wolverines first two games. It’s ok if the offense has not looked great, just wait.
Last night showed a glimpse of what they can be on offense. During the first half they looked great, but it slowed in the second half. Part of that could be based off the fact that Michigan led by as many as 30 early in the second and they just coasted, but Beilein probably would have liked them to continue to be efficient all game long. But if that is all you can point at during a game, then it was a very good game.
If this is what the Wolverines are capable this early in the season, imagine how Beilein will have them playing later in the year. They are still a young team with Matthews being the only senior and Simpson and Jon Teske as the only Juniors. As this team continues to grow and learn each other, the future should be very bright for the Wolverines.
Beilein has to be pleased with how his team played last night, but there are still things to work on and this team can play better. That is a scary thought for the rest of the Big Ten.
