Don’t leave Cam Reddish open behind the arc

Forcing Williamson to shoot is one thing, but keeping an eye on Cam Reddish is a completely different story. Reddish can easily be forgotten about with such a dynamic scoring duo like Barrett and Williamson, but it could cost you in the end.

Reddish is averaging a team-best 3.7 3-pointers per contest while shooting 44 percent for the Blue Devils this season. He made a season-high seven 3-pointers (also a new Duke freshman record) against the Army Black Knights in a breakout performance on Sunday.

Reddish finished the game with 25 points, seven rebounds, three assists and two steals in the 94-72 victory. He had just three points in their win against the Eastern Michigan Eagles on Wednesday night in 12 minutes of action, but consider it a game of rest, as he took just five total shots.

He’s averaging 16.7 points, 4.0 rebounds, 2.7 assists and 2.7 steals per game as Duke’s third option on offense. Defensively, his length and ability to guard the post have been key to making this rotation an instant success.

He’ll be looked upon to carry some of the scoring load when Williamson and Barrett aren’t on, which has already led to positive returns in the early stages of the season.
