Bracketology Winners: Big Ten dominates, WCC rises
4. Duquesne Dukes
The Atlantic 10 has not been off to a great start this season. Plenty of the favorites to win the conference this year, especially George Mason, have struggled greatly to this point in the year and the door might be open for a darkhorse. Enter Duquesne, an undefeated team with three relatively quality wins. Despite being one of the youngest teams in the nation (only one upperclassman in the rotation), the Dukes have played with poise so far this season and have shown signs of potential excellence.
And while they might not have one “signature win” to this point, Duquesne has piled up three potential Q2/3 wins so far. For an A10 program, those wins should not simply fly under the radar, either. William & Mary, UIC, and Radford all project as some of the top teams in their respective conferences and could become valuable wins down the road.
The real test for how “for real” Duquesne’s at-large hopes are this year, though, comes in their next game, a road bout with Notre Dame. If they are able to secure a win in South Bend then the Dukes will quickly start to garner national attention. (They also face Pittsburgh, Marshall, and Penn State in their non-conference schedule.)
