Bracketology Winners: Big East recovers, Arizona State improves resume

Texas Tech Red Raiders

After losing a ton of talent this offseason, Texas Tech basketball was expected to take a bit of a step back this year. Yet, the team is undefeated through six games and Jarrett Culver has taken over as the go-to star of the team. The Red Raiders are extremely young (four out of top five scorers are underclassmen) but head coach Chris Beard has the team in great shape in the early going of this year.

During this past week, Texas Tech competed in the Hall of the Fame Classic. On back-to-back days, the Red Raiders were able to secure wins over quality opponents in USC and Nebraska. Neither of these teams was ranked but will likely go down as Quadrant 1 wins. These battles took place at the Sprint Center in Kansas City and provided huge neutral-site wins for Texas Tech’s early resume.

And while Kansas is still the favorite to win the Big 12 this season, there might be an open slot for competition this year. The conference is one of the best in the nation and the Red Raiders have the potential to compete for the title of all goes according to plan. This team should only get better over the course of the season due to their youth and their resume is already off to a great start.
