Villanova Wildcats

After an incredibly rough start to the season that included home losses to Michigan and Furman, the defending national champions seemed to get back on track this week. While competing in the AdvoCare Invitational, Villanova was able to escape the unfriendly confines of their home courts to turn to a neutral site in the  HP Fieldhouse in Orlando.

While in “The Sunshine State”, the Wildcats first took care of Canisius in their opening game before snagging two high-quality wins. Oklahoma State and Florida State both represent excellent wins and a turning of the tides for the team this season. Villanova showed the ability to lock down opponents (58.0 ppg in the AdvoCare) during this three-game stretch and they might be turning the corner.

Head coach Jay Wright is one of the best in the business and all he needs is time to turn this team into a title contender. With this strong week, Villanova is likely still the preseason favorite to win the Big East and that is saying something considering how the season started. As of now, the most intriguing storyline surrounding the Wildcats, though, might be that five-star recruit Jahvon Quinerly has barely seen the floor as of late.
