Michigan Basketball: 3 keys for the Wolverines against Purdue
By Adam Childs
Rebound well
Part of what has made Michigan so good defensively is that they have rebounded the ball very well. They have limited opponents second chance opportunities and when you are contesting shots it makes it very difficult for the other team to score. North Carolina did get 13 offensive rebounds against the Wolverines but a lot of those were in the second half when Michigan was up big.
Purdue has Matt Haarms and Evan Boudreaux who have been very good on the offensive glass. They are big bodies with Haarms being over seven-foot and Boudreaux at 6’8″. Jon Teske can match their size and needs to continue to use his body to shield the rim.
The Boilermakers thrive on getting second chances and kicking it out for open shots. Michigan will need to limit those opportunities because Edwards and Ryan Cline can heat up from the outside. They can put up points in a hurry and completely swing a game.
The Wolverines just need to keep doing what they have been doing all year and they should be in good shape. But if the Boilermakers controls the offensive rebounds, then the Wolverines could be in for a fight.
