1. Control the paint

The Syracuse zone is sure to give the Hoyas fits but with Govan and Akinjo leading the way, they have an opportunity to control the paint. Govan gave the Orange a challenge in last season’s meeting with 21 points and eight rebounds and considering the tear he’s on, he could post his third double-double of the season in this one.

Akinjo and Govan aren’t the only ones who pose a threat on the interior. Mourning and LeBlanc have also been solid contributors in the frontcourt. Given Syracuse issues with foul trouble, getting to the foul line and controlling the paint could be the difference between a win and a loss for the Hoyas.

With some new faces on the roster, Georgetown could find it hard to adjust but they’ve leaned heavily on Govan this season and it’s worked in their favor. He’s putting up 19.5 points, 7.6 rebounds and 1.1 blocks per contest and shooting 59.8 percent from the floor.

Getting him going in the paint will be key to victory as it will open up the floor for others in Syracuse’ 2-3 zone. He’s posted four 20-point games already this season including a season-high 29 points against Richmond. Another 20-point performance could be on the way if the Hoyas hope to pull off the upset.
