No. 2 Loser – Providence Friars

Providence was expected to be at the top of the Big East this year and they still may be, but this week was not kind to them. Yes, they did win a game, but it was a 100-95 shootout with Boston College who has not exactly looked like a great team this year.

That game was not the problem. On Friday night the Friars lost to a bad UMass team. A team that had just lost to Holy Cross and earlier in the year lost to Harvard and Howard. UMass was not striking fear into anybody they played and it was a game that Providence should not have lost. Losing games like this show that maybe Providence is not a tournament team this year. Time will tell but this was one of the worst losses of the week.

No. 2 Winner – Seton Hall Pirates

Seton Hall has had an up and down start to the season and we were starting to wonder what type of team were they. Expected to a tournament team this year the struggled out of the gate and lost to Louisville to end the previous week.

This week started off with an easy 20 point win against New Hampshire, but then they took on Kentucky on Saturday. In possibly one of the best games of the year, the Pirates survived giving up a half-court three-pointer by Kentucky to send the game to overtime to come out with the win.

In a game not many people expected them to be in they hit what looked like the game-winning three late before the half court heave we just mentioned. Instead of letting the Wildcats ride that momentum into overtime, the Pirates hit more clutch threes and came off with the win. It could be a win that carries Seton Hall to a big rest of the season.
