1. The right team moves up to the top

Time is a flat circle, right? Thus Kansas rotates their way back into the top slot of the AP Top 25.

It’s still difficult to dispute that Gonzaga has the season’s best win, a Maui Invitational triumph over Duke, the Blue Devils’ only loss so far.

The top four teams have created a loop, however, with Gonzaga topping Duke, Tennessee beating the Zags, and Kansas triumphing over Tennessee. Therefore, it makes sense to rank Kansas above Tennessee and the Vols over Gonzaga.

Duke breaks the chain by being ranked second, when they arguably should be ranked behind Gonzaga (and therefore Kansas and Tennessee).

Still, this is about those Jayhawks, who have looked the part of a No. 1 team all season long.

They have impressive wins over Michigan State, Marquette, and Tennessee. They may add to that resume this week, when they take on Villanova in a Saturday matinee.

What the Jayhawks don’t have is a ton of dominant wins expected for a No. 1 team at this point in the season. Only three of eight wins have come by double digits. Just last week, New Mexico State fell to Kansas by just one possession.

Kansas is deserving of this week’s top ranking. Now they must prove they deserve to stay there.
