6. Florida Gators

Last Week: 7th (↑ 1)

When watching Florida games, one thing becomes abundantly clear: this team wins by defense. They are only scoring 69.7 points a game, which means they kind of have to win by defense. Their highest scorer is only getting 10.3 points a game.

However, their defense has been stout. They are only giving up 61.8 points a game. This mostly comes from their ability to force turnovers. Despite these defensive numbers, the season has been relatively disappointing.

I kept the Gators this high in my rankings because they have played good opponents. I’m not going to bash on them for losing to Michigan State by 4. They also have a few games to prove if I am right. I might not be, but they deserve the benefit of the doubt.

One thing that has to happen for Florida is for Jalen Hudson to emerge as the star he could be. After withdrawing from the 2018 NBA draft, many expected him to be the leader for the Gators. However, he isn’t even starting anymore. All of his numbers are down from last year’s, and they were expected to skyrocket in his senior season.

If Hudson fails to match what he did in his junior year, this season might take a turn for the worst as more games are played.
