NCAA Basketball: Best player from each conference entering January 2019
Northeast Conference: Jamaal King, St. Francis
The NEC is critically low on talent in 2019, and by default, St. Francis’ Jamaal King is the top player in the conference.
King is averaging 13.5 points and four assists per game in his senior season for the Red Flash, and have made them a contender to make the NCAA tournament despite a pretty rough start.
King is a spectacular scorer and facilitator, and expects to be at the center of any run that Saint Francis could make at March.
King will need to up his play even more as conference play progresses, if he wants a shot at making the tournament in his final collegiate season.
Ohio Valley Conference: Ja Morant, Murray State
Ja Morant is arguably the top mid major player, and will certainly be the top mid major player selected in next summers’ NBA draft.
The Murray State sophomore guard is averaging a stunning 23 points, 7 rebounds, and 10 assists per game on the season. Morant has been compared to Damian Lillard, and put up a triple-double against Alabama earlier in the season.
Murray State is the favorite to win the OVC, and if they can pull it off, they’ll be a prime upset pick in the NCAA tournament, all due to the unreal production from Morant.
Ja Morant will be a household name in a matter of seasons, and is truly one of the most enjoyable players to watch in the entire country for Murray State.
