Conference USA: Jon Elmore, Marshall

The Conference USA has had a stockpile of talent in the past few seasons, as several teams have had premier players that have made the conference a common cinderella producer, and a challenger for multiple bids.

Marshall’s Jon Elmore gets the nod as the top player in the C-USA however, as the senior guard is averaging 19 points and four rebounds and assists per game for the Thundering Herd.

Elmore led Marshall to the NCAA tournament last season, and lifted them to a first round upset over Wichita State. Elmore was introduced to the country as one of the nation’s better pure scorers, and hasn’t backed down from that in 2019.

Marshall will face a big challenge from Western Kentucky for the Conference USA’s bid, but if they make it back to the dance, you’ll see them as a popular cinderella pick.

Horizon League: Antoine Davis, Detroit

Who? Even big Horizon League fans probably hadn’t heard of Detroit freshman Antoine Davis before the season, but now they most certainly have.

Davis is averaging a shocking 25 points per game for the Titans, and has shown an innate ability to score the ball no matter what for Detroit in non-conference play.

Detroit is by no means a favorite to win the Horizon League, but Davis’ shooting makes them a contender nonetheless, and a real dangerous team in any game.

The Horizon League isn’t always keen on having big time players, but they’ve got one now in Davis, who is starting to gain attention from fans all around the country.
