No. 3 Loser – Coppin State Eagles

Coppin State is literally lost the most this year so far in college basketball. They are the last team in the country to not win a game as they sit at 0-15. The closes they have got was their last game against Notre Dame when they only lost by seven points.

The Eagles are not a good basketball team, but they would have still hoped to win a game before now. They have played Wisconsin, Notre Dame, and Virginia, but the rest of their games have been against fellow mid-major schools. They are not playing the hardest schedule in the country and they have not been close. Now the question is not when will the win a game but if they will.

No. 3 Winner – Top mid-major teams

Coming into this year Nevada, Buffalo and of course Gonzaga all looked like not only good mid-major schools but great teams for the whole college basketball universe. They have not disappointed. Nevada is still undefeated, Buffalo has knocked off Arizona State and Syracuse and Gonzaga beat Duke and played great against both Tennessee and North Carolina to once again shown that they belonged.

Just below them, Furman was ranked for the first time ever, San Francisco has looked good early and Lipscomb and Belmont have pulled off upsets. In a year where after the top five teams it looks wide open, this could be the year when the mid-major teams really show how good they can be. They are benefitting early and look to be for real this year.
