East Region

(1) Duke vs. (16) Wagner/Texas Southern

(8) Seton Hall vs. (9) Florida

(4) Indiana vs. (13) South Dakota State

(5) Mississippi State vs. (12) Lipscomb

(6) Marquette vs. (11) San Francisco/Clemson

(3) Texas Tech vs. (14) UC Irvine

(7) Iowa State vs. (10) Ole Miss

(2) Michigan State vs. (15) Georgia State

There are a few teams in this region that jump out as ones to follow over the next few months. For starters, Florida is seemingly hitting its stride. Despite a relatively pedestrian record to this point, the Gators rate tremendously well in predictive metrics and they could be a serious under-the-radar threat to compete near the top of the SEC. They also recently snagged a revenge victory over Butler in blowout fashion at home.

Next, I believe that Seton Hall might be the biggest surprise team of any in the nation. Despite losing an incredible senior class this offseason, head coach Kevin Willard has his team playing at an incredibly high level. Myles Powell is easily one of the top players in the nation and he is getting a fair amount of help from his supporting cast. The Pirates did not receive a ton of preseason love from the media but they have emerged as a legit contender in the Big East.

Finally, the Indiana Hoosiers are back. I was a huge fan of hiring Archie Miller at the time and he already has this storied program trending in the right direction. With Juwan Morgan and Romeo Langford leading the way, this team has the potential to be extremely dangerous. All they need now is to get healthy.
