South Dakota State Jackrabbits

The South Dakota State Jackrabbits have made the NCAA Tournament five times since 201, including in each of the past three years. They are the favorite in the Summit League by a landslide and there’s no reason to expect them to miss the Big Dance this season. This team has a good core of players and a handful of quality freshmen to go around them. The three seniors will look to lead this team to another conference championship and NCAA Tournament appearance.

Tevin King is a starting guard who can do it all for this team. He averages 9 points, 6.8 rebounds, and 4.4 assists per game. He’s not a big-time shooter but he still finds ways to score the basketball as well as being able to impact the game in every possible way. Skyler Flatten is another one of the seniors and he is primarily known as a scorer. He is averaging 15.4 points, 2.9 rebounds, and 1.6 assists per game. He is shooting 46% from 3-point range while attempting over five per game. His ability to shoot the ball makes him a great third option on this team.

Then we have the superstar on this team in Mike Daum. He is an all-around superstar who has won the Conference Player of the Year award back-to-back and looks to be well on his way to another one this season. So far this season, he is averaging 24.6 points and 10.9 rebounds per game. He can score the ball from anywhere on the floor and is a matchup nightmare for opposing bigs to defend.

Daum is the guy who makes this team so special but any star needs a worthy running mate and he has that with David Jenkins Jr. The sophomore guard is having a huge year, averaging 20 points, 3.6 rebounds, and 1.4 assists per game. His 3-point shooting this season is off the charts. He is making 51% of his 6.1 attempts per game.

This team has multiple guys who can make plays. They know what it takes to get to the NCAA Tournament and they will be able to learn from past losses to get over the hump this season. If this team makes it in as a No. 12 seed they will beat the No. 5 seed that they are matched up against. No matter the opponent I would pick this team all day long.
