Maryland Terrapins

Unless you’re truly one of the best teams in the country, odds are that you’re going to go through a 0-2 week at some point in conference play, especially if both games are on the road. That can sometimes be the difference for bubble teams come Selection Sunday.

On the flip side, going 2-0 can do wonders for a perspective resume. Ask the Terrapins, who defeated both a ranked Indiana squad as well as Minnesota on the road last week. It elevated the team to 5-1 in Big Ten play and projected to be safely in the NCAA Tournament as of now.

It’s important to understand how much work this team has to do in the Big Ten in terms of resume building. Their non-conference was lackluster to say best, with wins over Marshall and Hofstra being Maryland’s top victories. Already in conference play, the Terrapins have defeated Nebraska, Minnesota, and Indiana.

The Terrapins are in the midst of a tough stretch, with back-to-back road games against Ohio State and Michigan State coming up. But the current five-game winning streak has afforded them a couple of losses without worrying about falling out of contention for a bid. Some teams have already dug themselves a hole early on but Maryland has created some breathing room for the time being.
