NCAA Basketball Power Rankings: Ole Miss climbs, North Carolina dips
11. Florida State Seminoles
Record: 13-3 (1-2 ACC)
Last Week: No. 11
Florida State has dropped two of their last three games but both losses came against top-5 teams in the nation. Additionally, the Seminoles more than gave Duke a run for their money this past weekend as they almost had the upset victory wrapped up before allowing Cam Reddish to bury a wide-open three at the buzzer. And even though Florida State was unable to pull out the game, their performance against Duke is one that many other teams should take note of.
On the whole, Florida State has not recorded a resume-building win since Nov. 28 when they knocked off Purdue but the team still has a fairly strong resume. This is due to the fact that, despite only holding two KenPom top-50 wins, all three of Florida State’s losses have come at the hands of teams currently ranked in my top-25+ (Villanova, Duke, and Virginia). With this said, I am a firm believer in Florida State as a potential top-10 team in the country.
They might already hold losses to both Duke and Virginia but this is a team that should finish near the top of the ACC. The Seminoles have shown so far this season that they will take care of business when they are favored and there seems to be no reason to believe they will start to be upset with regularity.
