No. 2: Mac McClung’s explosive impact

Georgetown phenom freshman Mac McClung missed the Hoyas’ first few league games with a knee injury. McClung returned on Saturday, and he made his presence known in a big way.

McClung hit a game-tying three at the buzzer from the logo in his first game back, sending the game to overtime, a game that Georgetown would eventually win.

McClung made headlines all throughout high school due to his incredible dunking ability, but was only rated a three-star recruit. Despite his low ranking, McClung has made a big impact when he’s been healthy, proving to be a valuable scorer and catalyst on offense.

Speaking of the dunks, those do more for Georgetown than the two points that they produce. McClung’s slams are momentum-shifting, stadium-shaking dunks that can single-handedly change the tone of the game.

In a game that should be very back-and-forth, Georgetown is going to need a load of momentum. That could, and should come in the form of McClung, who, whether he’s slamming it or not, expects to make a sizable impact on the offensive side of the ball.

McClung has brought the type of energy and highlight reel excitement that Georgetown has simply lacked throughout the past few down years. Things are looking up in D.C., and that’s due in part to the impact, both in the box score and off the box score by young Mac McClung.
