4. Luke Maye, North Carolina

Luke Maye is the North Carolina’s best big man this season. UNC is a perplexing team that’s loaded with talent but hasn’t reached its full potential. As of right now UNC is 2nd in the ACC standings, but their style of play is what’s concerning. UNC plays a fast paced game that doesn’t have many set plays or real direction to it. Coby White jacks up a ton of shots and Nassir Little is virtually nonexistent. Good thing for the Tar Heels is that Luke Maye is a consistent big man.

Maye has seen his role get increasingly larger since his Freshman season. He really jumped onto the scene in the national championship game when he carried UNC in his Sophomore season. Maye he didn’t get starters minutes until his Junior year. He barely played his Freshman year and then played an average of 14.2 minutes per game during his sophomore season. Following playing hero ball for UNC at the end of his Sophomore season, he finally got the nod to takeover as a key contributor on a strong Carolina team.

He shot the ball incredibly well and played over his head last season. Now he’s not only a starter, but a guy who the team needs to lean on during his senior season and he isn’t playing as well as he did before. The reason why I included Luke Maye on this list is because he’s still a consistent double-double guy who hits clutch shots, and I’d still take him on my team. This season he’s averaging 14.4 points, 10.1 rebounds, 2 assists, and he’s shooting 42% from the field, 32.3% from three, and 77% from the line.
