ACC Basketball: Top 5 players midway through 2018-19 season

3. Ky Bowman, Boston College
Ky Bowman is easily the most underrated player in the ACC, and possibly even the whole country. I believe he’s the toughest guard in the country, and he has the stats to back that claim up. Bowman stands at 6’1″, and weighs a sturdy 188 lbs. He’s averaging 20.3 points, 8.0 rebounds, 3.4 assists, and 1.5 steals per game.
Eight rebounds per contest for any guard, let alone a 6’1″ player is astonishing. The Boston College guard is also shooting 43% from the field and 36.7% from beyond the arch. All of those numbers are upticks from last season, except his assists. Last season Bowman averaged 4.7 assists per game, so he’s lacking a bit in that statistic. It’s clear he has good vision, so I believe the reason why his assists are down 1.3 per game and his scoring is up 2.7 from last season is because he’s shooting the ball a little more this year due to having less help around him.
Bowman has had some incredible performances this season. In a one point overtime loss to Hartford, Bowman poured in 44 points, collected 10 rebounds, and stole the ball five times. He went 14-23 from the field and 5-8 from deep. Way earlier in the season he dropped 38 on 14-22 shooting in a win against Wyoming. It’s clear that Bowman is a fantastic scorer, but what I love most about him is his tenacity on the glass. It really shows just how badly he wants to win, and that’s why I think he’s incredibly underrated.
