Florida State Seminoles

While some teams had bad weeks to put themselves on the bubble, others do big damage to their seeding. That’s what happened to Florida State, who hurt their case as a top-4 protected seed for the NCAA Tournament.

Winning on the road is never easy in conference play but very good teams manage to find a way to do it against lesser competition. The Seminoles had winnable games versus Pittsburgh and Boston College to solidify their place towards the top of the ACC.

Instead, they lost them both, giving up 30+ point games to opposing guards in each game. Their shooting struggles have been getting exposed as the season has gone on as well. Florida State drops to 13-5 overall and 1-4 in the ACC.

The Seminoles had good non-conference wins over Purdue, LSU, and even Saint Louis. But in order to get in good position for a high seed in March, they’ll have to go through the rest of an unbalanced ACC schedule that doesn’t feature many top-25 teams left. So while it’s soft enough for Florida State to accumulate wins, more losses will put them into the 8-9 seed territory rather than the top four, which talent-wise is where they should be.
