NCAA Basketball Power Rankings: Tennessee, MSU vie for top spot
23. LSU Tigers
Record: 14-3 (4-0 SEC)
Last Week: Not Ranked
LSU entered this season as a top-25 team in the country but quickly fell out of the rankings. However, the Tigers are now hitting their stride on both ends of the floor and have won seven consecutive games. During this past week alone, LSU secured victories over Ole Miss (away) and South Carolina (home) and the team has earned a position in the top-25.
Tremont Waters (13.5 points, 6.2 assists) and Naz Reid (13.1 points, 5.5 rebounds) make up a dangerous duo and it is easy to see how the Tigers might be able to compete near the top of the SEC. Head coach Will Wade has done a great job balancing his rotation throughout this year and the team has also shown the ability to play on the road in recent weeks.
And while LSU’s calling card might be its offense this season, their defense does a superb job forcing turnovers, especially on the perimeter. They rank third in the nation defensive steal rate (13.4%) and they also block their fair share of shots as well (13.6%).
