3. Get tough

In recent weeks, Tim Miles has called his team soft, and his players have agreed. The problem is, nothing has changed. The Huskers are still super lackadaisical at times and don’t seem too enthused out on the court.

It’s not just physical toughness, the mental toughness is lacking as well, they just cannot get out of their own way. Whether it be scoring droughts, or turnovers, they all seem to come at the same time. As a senior laden team, young mistakes should not still be happening. All of these players have been playing together for two years now, they have enough chemistry to know what works.

Wisconsin is going to have their scoring runs, that’s where the Huskers’ toughness comes in. If they can find it, they will be in good shape.

This is a very winnable game for the Huskers. The Badgers don’t really have any volume scorers, besides Happ, but he can’t spread the floor, which plays into the Big Red’s favor.

Veteran senior Tanner Borchardt will get the starts in place of Isaac Copeland, in hopes of equaling Copeland’s rebounding prowess. Nebraska is a bad rebounding team, and Copeland averaged 5.4. More importantly, replacing Copeland’s scoring will be the tougher task. His 14.5 PPG doesn’t grow on trees.

It’s crunch time. It’s time for Nebraska to knuckle up and find a second gear if they want to get where they want to go. If they can’t, it will be a long second half of the season.
