9. Nebraska Cornhuskers (13-7)

Previous rank: 7

Nebraska is tail spinning right now. Their resume is fine, but the 3-6 Big Ten record isn’t good. The Cornhuskers fell to Texas Tech very earlier and the Red Raiders are proving to be a lot better than what we thought. Seton Hall, Creighton and Clemson seemed good at the time, but all three are struggling this season.

The Cornhuskers haven’t beaten anyone in the top-half of the Big Ten this season. Illinois, Penn State and Indiana have been their only wins. The Hoosiers overall are fine, but Big Ten Indiana is struggling hard. Since the Indiana win though, Nebraska is 0-3 including a loss to Rutgers and snapping Ohio State’s losing streak.

The next month doesn’t look good either as Isaac Copeland did go down against Ohio State and will be done for the year. But the struggles have come before his injury. They were 11-2 going back into conference play. Nebraska lost two in a row, but bounced back and won a pair to go 12-4. Then the Cornhuskers lost three-in-a-row to really put them behind the eight ball.

The talent is there. James Palmer Jr. is All-Big Ten worthy with 19.4 points per game, 3.4 assists and 4.4 boards. He and Glynn Watson Jr. have made over 40 three-pointers this season. Before Copeland went down, he was in double-figures with over five boards. They had been getting nice production outside the top-three, but as of late, no one else is stepping up. It’s not completely over for Nebraska by no means, but a few guys have to play better ball with Copeland out.
