Best Performance, Team – Hofstra

Hofstra didn’t do anything out of the ordinary this week. The Pride blew out a pair of CAA opponents on the road (James Madison 85-68 and Towson 84-61).

Dominance over their conference as become routine at this point in the season for Hofstra, who extended their nation’s best winning streak to 16 games after the pair of victories.

The only three losses the Pride do have on the season are at Marshall by four, at Maryland by 11, and at VCU by two. The loss to VCU came in overtime on Nov. 24, and they haven’t been beaten since.

The Pride don’t have any big wins on their resume, and the CAA doesn’t provide any chances for them to pick up any in conference play, but they keep winning. And if they can extend this winning streak into March, they’ll be a trendy upset pick in the NCAA Tournament.

Honorable mention goes to UTSA for erasing a 17-point deficit in the final four minutes to beat Old Dominion 74-73. Combined with UAB’s 52-49 win at North Texas, this forces the C-USA into a four-way battle between those four teams with Marshall and Louisiana Tech lurking.
