2. UNC gets revenge on Louisville
The North Carolina Tar Heels got their revenge on the Louisville Cardinals after getting embarrassed back in January in the Dean Dome. Just when it looked like the Cardinals were a darkhorse contender in the ACC title race, the Tar Heels showed why they’re still a threat.
Luke Maye put up 20 points and 11 rebounds and Cameron Johnson put up 19 points and 10 rebounds as they virtually overwhelmed Louisville on the boards. North Carolina out-rebounded their opponent 49-32, including 18 offensive rebounds as they made things look relatively easy from the jump.
By the time the final buzzer sounded, the Tar Heels finished the game with 18 second chance points while the Cardinals finished with just three points. The victory gives North Carolina some breathing room in the standings, for now, with a 7-1 record.
They’re third in the ACC standings and currently on a five-game winning streak heading into a rivalry game on Tuesday night with the NC State Wolfpack. After the loss the Wolfpack just suffered, the Tar Heels are sure to get more than just a competitive game.
