8. Texas Longhorns (12-10, 4-5 Conference Play)

Previous Ranking: No. 8

Last time, I talked about how inconsistent and difficult to figure out the Texas Longhorns are. What has happened since then?

The Longhorns got blown out on the road against Georgia, who is not a tournament team. How did Texas follow that up?

Only by knocking Kansas off by ten at home. What a big win for a Texas team that needs every win they can get. You would think that would be the game to get the Longhorns going.

Nope. Texas couldn’t pull it out against Iowa State, losing their tenth game of the season.

The bubble is on the verge of bursting, and Shaka Smart’s seat is on the verge of exploding. Things could not be any more tense in Austin.

But hey, at least it looks like Kerwin Roach is starting to figure things out. The senior guard dropped 15 points and four rebounds in the Kansas upset, and led the Longhorns with 19 points in the losing effort against Iowa State.

However, this young Texas team has a long, long road ahead if they want any shot at playing meaningful games in March. Texas faces Baylor, West Virginia, Kansas State and Oklahoma State in their next four, and if they can’t win three of those games, things won’t get any better.
