5. Kansas State Wildcats (16-2, 6-2 Conference Play)

Previous Ranking: No. 6

Remember about a month or so ago, when we were talking about how disappointing Kansas State’s season has been, and about how their tournament hopes could be in danger if their struggles continued.

Yeah, that seems like a year ago. The Kansas State Wildcats have gotten their act together big time, and are looking like the Top-25 team that they started out the season as.

Additionally, Dean Wade is back, and better than ever. The senior forward scored 24 points on 9-of-9 shooting against Oklahoma State on Saturday. Any doubt that Wade would be able to return to full form following his foot injury is completely gone.

Despite a slip up against Texas A&M last week, the Wildcats are looking as strong as anyone in the Big 12. They’ve rattled off six-consecutive wins in conference play, including a win against Texas Tech at home.

While the six-straight wins looks really nice, it is important to remember one thing; Kansas State has not played Kansas yet. That will be a true test for the Wildcats, who, if they can pull it out, might just validate themselves as a real contender in the Big 12.
