Lipscomb Bison

One of the biggest mid-major contenders for an at-large bid, Lipscomb put together a very strong week to land in these bracketology winners. During the past few weeks, the Bison added two more wins to their exceptionally strong record. And while many might overlook Lipscomb’s week due to the fact that they play in the Atlantic Sun, that would be a mistake. This is due to the fact that many underrate the importance of a road win over Liberty, who is rated quite high in all metrics.

And not only did the Bison take down the Flames but they did so by 20 points. This was a superb overall performance and it helped the team skyrocket up the national rankings. With an 18-4 (9-0 ASun) total record that includes two quadrant-one wins and strong metric rankings, it is clear that Lipscomb belongs in tournament contention. They have flown under the radar throughout this season but they should start to pick up some serious momentum from bracketologists.

With several major conferences exhibiting “down” seasons, there should be more spots available for top mid-majors to potentially swoop in for at-large bids. With that said, it remains to be seen whether the committee will actually reward mid-majors this season, Lipscomb should be hopeful.
